Seeds of knowledge
There is a lot of information out there, but it’s scattered around in bits and pieces. I have a long track record of collecting, “wrapping up” and presenting information. In the early stages of my career, collecting information meant absorbing tradition-based know-how while working on the family farm. Then, as a young farm owner I got to take a lot of responsibility and look for new solutions.
During my studies, information was ”wrapped up” at exams. After completing a degree in agronomy at a vocational college (Hyvinkään maatalousopisto), I studied at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Helsinki and graduated as a Master of Science in Agriculture. I majored in Marketing; as minor subjects I had Agricultural Consultancy, Mass Communication, Agricultural Politics and Agricultural Economics.
The knowledge I had accumulated through practical experience and academic studies was soon put into practice at an agricultural store, at a cereals laboratory and in the service of an advisory organisation. Later, I was employed by a company engaged in the wholesaling of plant protection products. Nowadays, I work as an entrepreneur.
I have a wealth of experience organising a variety of training events and projects. I keep my expertise up to date through regular discussions with partners and by following the latest news in the field of agriculture in Finland and abroad. In addition, I gain new insights from carrying out growing trials on my farm. My work has been interesting and varied; with each new project I have had the chance to learn something more.
